The films and series leaving Netflix this week: November 2024
Going into November, Netflix has announced the various movies and series titles that will be dropped from everyone’s watchlist this month.
Starting at the top of the month, fans had already seen the Tom Hanks film A Man Called Otto leave the streaming service on November 5th and Tom Cruise’s science-fiction epic The Edge of Tomorrow disappearing as of November 6th.
Now the Nothing to Lose series is going to be taken off the site starting on November 14th. The two biographical films follow the life of evangelical Edir Macedo as he scales up the ladder of success before finding himself getting into trouble with the law and overcoming personal loss as he makes his way through the sequel.
Also, leaving on November 14th is the biographical film First Man, which tells the story of Neil Armstrong’s trek to become the first astronaut to walk on the moon. The film starred Ryan Gosling as Armstrong and marked a reunion of him and director Damien Chazelle, whom he had worked with for the Oscar-award-winning film La La Land.
While Chazelle had a track record for well-respected films, First Man was among one of his first to underperform at the box office upon release. Despite positive reviews from critics, it only earned $105.7 million compared to the $59million budget that he had to work on the film. Since then, he has also worked on the Hollywood film Babylon.
This week also marks the departure of many different biographical movies surrounding American history. On November 15th, the film Harriet is set to leave the streaming service, documenting the life of civil rights icon Harriet Tubman, documenting both her escape from slavery and her role in creating The Underground Railroad, which freed countless slaves in the 1800s.
The film earned lead actress Cynthia Erivo multiple award nominations from the Screen Actors Guild as well as The Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, however, did not leave any of the ceremonies with a win.
Elsewhere, other shows that are set to be leaving the service later this week include the reality TV series The Shahs of Sunset and the long-awaited reimagining of the Evil Dead series Evil Dead Rise. The biographical pictures continue to be removed, with Will Smith’s portrayal of Muhammed Ali in the film Ali being taken off as well.
While there has been news surrounding the return of Netflix properties, such as the fifth season of Stranger Things coming in 2025, there have been no release dates announced yet.
