The critically acclaimed Angus Cloud thriller trending on Netflix

After a fairytale story of discovery and a phenomenal breakout role in Euphoria, Angus Cloud’s promising career took a tragic turn with his sudden passing. Dealing with his father’s death and battling depression, the actor passed away due to a drug overdose on July 31st, 2023. At the time of his death, Cloud was working on multiple film projects. One of these films, released posthumously, earned Cloud plenty of praise and is now storming on Netflix US.

Your Lucky Day follows the story of Sterling, played by Cloud, a young man whose life is dramatically altered when he attempts to rob a convenience store for a winning lottery ticket. Sterling’s plan goes awry when he finds himself inadvertently in the midst of a hostage situation instead.

Set against the backdrop of a tense standoff, the film explores themes of desperation, choice, and the consequences of societal inequality. As Sterling grapples with the unfolding events, the movie explores a familiar theme: what will you do when pushed to your limits?

The actor, known for his quietly potent portrayal of Fezco in the hit series Euphoria, tragically passed away at the age of 25, leaving behind a promising career and a legion of fans mourning his untimely departure. The second season of the Sam Levinson series ended on a cliffhanger that involved an intense shootout at Fezco’s place. With the third season of Euphoria underway, fans are eager to see how Fezco’s fate is dealt with on the show.

Directed by Daniel Brown, Your Lucky Day has been a sensation, with both critics and audiences praising Cloud’s talent. The film, which premiered on Netflix on March 11th, 2024, has an impressive 86 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

While Netflix’s viewing metrics may sometimes be ambiguous, the success of the film on OTT is evident. Since its arrival on the streaming platform, it has consistently ranked in the US Netflix Top 10 charts, according to streaming data aggregator FlixPatrol.
