The Bill Murray zombie movie storming the Netflix charts

Christmas is usually a time for saccharine festive films, but for some odd reason, a cult classic Bill Murray zombie movie is now storming the Netflix charts. It might seem odd for a zombie movie to make the top ten charts so close to the festive period, but it shows that the Netflix audience can never be predicted.

The Dead Don’t Die, directed by Jim Jarmusch and starring Murray in a pivotal role is a meta-comedy caper that deals with zombies in the most modern way, clearly stating the rules of survival and enjoying the painstaking apocalypse ahead.

After detailing his thirst for work and his desire to keep busy, Murray was then asked to explain what it was that Jarmusch did in order to convince him to star in Dead Don’t Die, to which he replied: “Jim just throws a lot of money at you. He’s just complete B.S. He just throws a lot of money at you. And gifts. Lots and lots of presents.

“For days and days, things just start arriving at your door, and it’s like, ‘Oh, god. Jarmusch wants me to work for him.’ You can tell who it is by the way he operates. He’s a manipulator,” he added amid spits of laughter.

Taking a more serious line, Murray added: “I don’t know how the hell I got this job. I was just excited. The script was funny. He lives in black and white in a kind of funny way. It’s about shadows with him. It’s day for night. Lots of day for night for him. He comes to you in the daytime but dressed as darkness.”

With the legendary indie filmmaker at the healm, the cast for the movie is seriously impressive. The Dead Don’t Die‘s star-studded cast, includes Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Selena Gomez, and more, who appear alongside Murray in the horror comedy.

The flick has now become a favourite among Netflix users who have taken to watching the horror comedy during the holiday period in one of the more obscure movie choices for the period. With 4.9million views and 8.6million hours viewed, the picture is among the most popular on the streaming site this week.

It might not quite match up to Murray’s other zombie-related caper in Zombieland: Double Tap, but the movie is well worth a watch.
