The best thing about ‘Stranger Things’ season five, according to Ross Duffer: “It’s pretty insane”
Hell broke loose on a random Wednesday when the audience was least expecting the Hawkins gang to go Demogorgon-hunting on bikes. But since the recent Stranger Things season five teaser trailer release, an eerie anticipation has struck fans like lightning bolts on a sunny day. From the day Will Byers disappeared and unravelled the biggest Upside Down conspiracy in Indiana, fans have been waiting with bated breath to see the end of evil.
The stakes are incredibly high with the fifth and final season of Stranger Things inching closer. With every menace now on the loose from its monster canon and Max still on a deathbed, the Duffer brothers have a lot on the plate to address. And in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter back in January, he hinted at the best possible thing that awaits the finale.
Ross Duffer revealed having spent an entire year filming the final episodes of Stranger Things season five. And by the time they called it a wrap, they had shot 650 hours of footage. “So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane,” he added. Co-creator Matt Duffer chimed in, saying, “We think it’s our most personal story.”
Filming the final episodes was an emotional rollercoaster for the cast and crew, who have stuck through thick and thin for a decade to breathe life into Stranger Things. It’s no surprise that “there was a lot of crying.” In fact, Millie Bobby Brown broke down into tears as did the others while giving a wrap-up speech on the last day of filming the sci-fi gem, which she likened to a graduation day.
“Everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope – and believe – that passion will translate to the screen,” he continued. In November 2024, Netflix teased the arc of Stranger Things, unveiling the episode titles which are in the DNA of “eight blockbuster movies.” The episodes are: ‘The Crawl,’ ‘The Vanishing of,’ ‘The Turnbow Trap,’ ‘Sorcerer,’ ‘Shock Jock,’ ‘Escape From Camazotz, ‘The Bridge,’ and ‘The Rightside Up.’
Netflix most recently unveiled a teaser trailer of Stranger Things season five with a poster art. And every fleeting sequence from Demogorgons leaping to Vecna’s “found you” sends sheer chills down the spines. Danger was always on the Hawkins card. But this time, carry a tissue box with your flamethrowers or nail-spiked bats, whichever is your suit of ammo pick.
The final season will be released in three parts during the year-end holidays. Volume one will hit Netflix shelves on November 26 with four episodes, volume two is slated for Christmas with three, while the Finale is scheduled on New Year’s Eve. So, in case you’re party planning the New Year’s elsewhere, the real fireworks show is about to go down in Hawkins.
