The animated series for ‘Clash of Clans’ is coming to Netflix
Netflix has just announced an animated series based on the popular video game Clash of Clans. Currently in pre-production stage, the series will follow a Barbarian who brings together a group of misfits to protect their village while going through the comic absurdities that occur in war politics.
Set in the world of Supercell’s Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, Fletcher Moules will be the showrunner for the series with Ron Weiner, known for his work in Arrested Development, serving as the head writer. This is not Moules’ first collaboration with Supercell, he has previously worked on several animated videos for YouTube on Clash of Clans. These videos received a viewership of hundred of millions.
ICON Creative Studio is set to lead the animation for the series. The game was originally launched in 2012 on both iOS and Android. Its first spin-off, Clash Royale, was released in 2016. Widely popular among children and youth, the game and its spin-offs have been collectively downloaded over four billion times.
Netflix’s Vice President of Animation Series shared his excitement regarding the collaboration. He cited the game to be the perfect fit for an animated adaptation with its humour, action and memorable characters.
Even the team at Supercell is thrilled with this partnership. They urge fans to imagine the series filled with legendary battles, Barbarian moustaches and the humour that the game is known for. Netflix has established itself as a trustworthy platform for animated series, with many previous successes such as Arcane and Devil May Cry. A new animated series from the Stranger Things universe is also in the making.
Netflix had previously announced the animated comedy series Mating Season for adults. The team behind Big Mouth would be working on the new series as well. Simultaneously, the last season of Big Mouth is being prepared for release.
Another Netflix animated series which received immense praise was Long Story Short. This show was created by the team behind BoJack Horseman. The main cast for the new show was recently announced, with Abbi Jackson being joined by Max Greenfield and Nicole Byer.
