The 5 best series to watch on Netflix in May 2022

5. The Pentaverate – Mike Myers, Tim Kirby

The show has received divisive reception wherein fans loved it while critics were not very sure. The six-episode series sees Mike Myers in eight different roles, including a voice-over for Shrek, and Jennifer Saunders in two. The rest of the cast includes Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Lydia West, Richard McCabe and Debi Mazar.

With Jeremy Irons as the narrator, the show sees Myers as a  Canadian journalist who wants to uncover the secrets behind the secret society called the Pentaverate, who have probably influenced the various world events since the 1347 Black Plague.

The show began streaming on Netflix on May 5th, 2022.

4. The Lincoln Lawyer David E. Kelley, Ted Humphrey

Based on Michael Connelly’s 2008 novel The Brass Verdict, the upcoming series will star Manuel Garcja-Rulfo, Neve Campbell, Angus Sampson, Christopher Gorham, Jazz Raycole and Becki Newton. It is the Netflix adaptation of the 2011 film starring Matthew McConaughey.

The show will see the return of the defence attorney, Mickey Haller, to the courtroom when he is entrusted with a sensational case in Los Angeles. Haller is assigned the task of defending a studio executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover. As he prepares for the case, he finds himself embroiled in action and suspense.

Netflix will air the series on May 13th, 2022.

3. Love on the Spectrum U.S. – Cian O’Clery

Previously an Australian reality dating show, Netflix is bringing back the US version of the same show, where various people on the autism spectrum strive to find love and navigate the world of dating. Regardless of a diagnosis, the series will see a unique and diverse cast trying to look for love.

Autism spectrum disorders are often misunderstood and misrepresented. It can lead to difficulties in communication and is often infantilised. The award-winning Australian show has influenced the show and will see the series attempt to break down social barriers.

The show will premiere on Netflix on May 18th, 2022.

2. Love, Death+Robots – Tim Miller

The third season for Love, Death+Robots will see ten episodes from ten different directors. Even filmmakers like David Fincher and Alberto Mieglo will be joining the slew of other directors to helm these short animated segments.

The show was initially seen as a perfect successor to Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror due to its eerie, bizarre and dystopian premise. With an abundance of violence, gore and sexual undertones, the show has to date recorded the wildest cataclysmic events and often served as sociological commentary.

The third season of this show is scheduled to premiere on May 20th, 2022.

1. Stranger Things – Duffer brothers

After months of eager anticipation, Stranger Things season four is finally coming to Netflix in two separate volumes. Starring Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and others, the showrunners have reportedly spent $30million per episode, promising an epic upcoming season.

Wolfhard has already called the fourth season of this pop-cultural phenomenon to be the “darkest season ever”. The trailer, filled with violence, explosion and chaos, simply seems to second Wolfhard’s statements, and the story will take place across several locations as the characters try and battle various other demons that lie in their way.

Stranger Things season four, volume one, will arrive on Netflix on May 27th, 2022.
