People started buzzing about the Netflix US series chart this week before anyone even checked what was on it. Many expected that by this time, all the seasons of Stranger Things would be back in action, ranking on top, but it seems like Netflix US viewers have something else in mind. We’ll start with The Beast in Me still sitting at the top like it paid rent in advance for two weeks straight, which tells you everything about how people operate when a limited series hits the exact spot it needs to. You cannot even blame them; it is short, dramatic, addictive… everything required to make a limited series hit. And people love finishing something over a weekend because our attention spans packed their bags years ago.

And then, right under it, Absentia barges back in. To be fair, it all started the moment it arrived. Everyone collectively remembered how obsessed they were in 2018. The energy is hilarious because viewers are watching it with the urgency of someone who thinks Netflix will snatch it away again tomorrow. Season one charting this fast? Yeah, that was expected.

Sliding into the chart on number three with so much confidence is Raw, which showed up in mid-November with a brand new episode and immediately took over all the attention.

Next, we have America turning towards Hawkins again. Stranger Things seasons one, three, and four all climbed back into the Top 10 at the same time, which only means one thing: the country has entered full prep mode for volume one of season five. People are rewatching with notebooks, theories, snacks, and emotional support blankets/people. The dedication is unreal but also so expected because, you know, people have been waiting for three long years now.

But the funniest part of the chart, and we mean hilarious in the most affectionate way, is Ms Rachel. Season one has been in the US Top 10 for 41 weeks. Forty-one. At this point, it feels like toddlers are running this country because the grip this show has on families is no joke. Season two is also here now because families clearly wanted both. And the way it sits in between thrillers and supernatural shows: pure comedy.

Somewhere in the middle of all this sits Last Samurai Standing, which is finally getting the attention people should have given it weeks ago. It is gripping from the start, and once you are in, you are in. It is the show you start and then end up finishing before you realise you have been sitting in the same position for three hours.

And closing the list in the most dramatic fashion is A Man on the Inside, season two. People love secrets, suspicious neighbours, and hidden motives, and this show gave you everything in one place. No wonder it crawled right back into the Top 10. It is messy in the best way.

So yes, the Top 10 this week is quite entertaining. Let’s see what happens now that the first volume of Stranger Things season 5 has dropped.
