The 10 most popular series on Netflix US this week: May 2026

A noticeable thing about the viewers of Netflix in the US is that they never miss a chance to binge the hell out of a true crime show. And that’s what’s happening right now. If you have a look at the list, you will realise what we mean. True crime is back on the Netflix charts again.

Take Worst Ex Ever, season two, for example. The world is well aware of the dating horror stories coming out of the US on a daily basis. This show is bringing them to you directly from the victims’ mouths. Hidden identities, criminals and whatnot. And it escalates so fast you barely catch your breath. Watch it, and we promise you some serious jaw-dropping moments.

Another thing to pay attention to in this week’s Netflix US series list is that it is very much in sync with the global list. People are watching almost all the same shows. The only change is the order of ranking, which is why Man on Fire is ranking at number one globally but at two in the US.

Come on, it was bound to rank given its amazing plot and also the curiosity factor which drew people in. The 2004 Denzel Washington version left such a big mark on people; they wanted to see what the hype was about. And the series did complete justice to the story, as instead of copying the old Denzel Washington film scene-for-scene, they have gone deeper into John Creasy and turned the whole thing into this massive revenge thriller. And Yahya Abdul-Mateen II? Whew. He is excellent.

And as if viewers weren’t miserable enough already, they have shoved Lord of the Flies straight up the charts too. Honestly, every generation watches that story and comes away thinking humans are terrifying when left alone for five minutes. The same thing is happening again now. People online are already arguing over which kids annoyed them most and which ones would survive longest in real life. Bleak behaviour all round.

Back into the true crime land, Should I Marry A Murderer? has absolutely destroyed trust issues across America. With each new episode, we have couples smiling in holiday photos talking about fate and soulmates, and then, before long, somebody’s hiding fake names, criminal records or entire secret lives. Sort of like Worst Ex Ever. Dating’s hard enough already without Netflix adding this sort of paranoia to the list.

Then La Brea is a weird new entry in the list. Half the episodes are people running through forests, shouting each other’s names while prehistoric monsters pop up every now and then. Completely ridiculous. Weirdly addictive though.

Comedy fans have been fed this week, too, because Funny AF with Kevin Hart and The Roast of Kevin Hart both pulled massive numbers. Americans love a celebrity roast. The nastier the jokes get, the happier everybody seems to be. And with Kevin Hart involved, you already know how amazing it will be without saying.

Meanwhile, WWE Raw: 2026 keeps proving that wrestling fans are one of the most committed fanbases alive. Monday nights still belong to wrestling over there. It doesn’t matter how dramatic things get, either; they rank consistently, all thanks to the fans.

And then there’s Running Point season two, which is still hanging around because people got properly attached to Kate Hudson and her chaos. That’s it, that’s everything people have been watching in the US. How many of these shows have you binged?
