The 10 most popular series on Netflix US this week: May 2026

Is Netflix US’s series chart looking a little familiar this week? Because it is. This week’s chart is dead similar to the global TV rankings, with loads of the same shows bossing both lists. Which says a lot, really. Netflix keeps churning out series that seem to do well everywhere.

Let’s start from the top, where we have The Boroughs season one. And if you haven’t heard about this one yet, where have you been? The supernatural mystery comes from the Duffer Brothers, and instead of focusing on teenagers this time, it follows a bunch of pensioners living in a retirement community out in the New Mexico desert.

Sounds a bit mad when you first hear it, doesn’t it? But then strange things start happening; the residents realise there is something sinister lurking underneath their peaceful little community, and they are all hooked. You’ve got Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Clarke Peters and Denis O’Hare leading the cast as well, so it’s not exactly short on talent. The whole thing has turned into one of Netflix’s biggest hits before anyone could blink.

Sitting in second is the first season of Nemesis. Proper crime-thriller territory, this one. The series follows detective Isaiah Stiles and criminal mastermind Coltrane Wilder, whose lives get wound up with each other as the story develops. One is chasing the other; one is staying a step ahead. Courtney A. Kemp, who created Power, has said that the show is about two fellas on opposite sides of the law slowly becoming reflections of each other. Viewers have absolutely lapped it up.

Then you’ve got The Four Seasons season two in third place. If you watched the first season, you will know the score. A group of close friends with plenty of holidays and lots of emotional drama. The new season picks up after everything that happened before and carries on exploring friendships. Tina Fey, Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield have done a fantastic job continuing the story, and their characters and viewers seem more than happy to spend another season with these characters.

The biggest documentary in the rankings this week is Instadocs: Alex Murdaugh, Unconvicted. And honestly, has there been a true-crime story people just can’t stop talking about more than the Murdaugh case? Every time you think everyone has heard enough, another documentary or podcast turns up. This latest Netflix doc takes a turn and goes back into the legal controversy and public fascination surrounding former South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh. Given how obsessed Netflix viewers are with true crime, it was always likely to end up near the top of the chart.

Rounding out the Top Five is Raw from May 25, 2026, the final WWE Raw before Clash in Italy. Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu, tribal combat, contract signings, and championship matches: Loads going on. The episode came from Columbus, Ohio, and also featured Intercontinental Champion Penta defending his title against Je’Von Evans.

The next few spots show just how all over the place Netflix audiences can be. Worst Ex Ever season two carries on telling stories about relationships that went spectacularly wrong, using interviews and firsthand accounts to piece together each case. Bad Thoughts season two sees Tom Segura back with more strange sketches and dark comedy, which is exactly what fans were hoping for. Then you’ve got The Roast of Kevin Hart, where comedians and celebrity friends spend their time absolutely roasting Kevin Hart in front of a crowd. Harsh? Maybe. Funny? Usually, yeah.

The final two spots couldn’t be more different if they tried. Danny Go! season one is still doing numbers thanks to younger viewers. The educational series mixes music and interactive lessons to keep kids engaged while they’re learning. Doesn’t sound complicated, does it? But it clearly works. And finally, there is Man on Fire season one and that winds up the list.
