America clearly does love a story it already knows its way around, and the latest Netflix US Top 10 makes that pretty hard to miss. Half the battle here is getting people to click on a title, and a familiar name is doing a good job at that.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is enjoying its second week run at the top spot. Her 1892 case left the courtroom long ago and became part of American folklore, so viewers are coming in with assumptions and probably that old rhyme somewhere in the back of their heads.

Right behind it comes A Different World, and Netflix knows full well what it has with Hillman College. The Road to Hillman campaign took the revival onto real college campuses, while Brandy recorded a new version of the theme. If the original meant something to you, those little touches are doing their job.

Wonka’s The Golden Ticket raids another cupboard of cultural memory. Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie Bucket in the 1971 film, even appears for a cameo. Come on, if you know your Everlasting Gobstoppers, that is going to get a smile.

Then The Great British Baking Show has brought a surprising freshness to the list with a change people are bound to notice: Nigella Lawson is now beside Paul Hollywood after replacing Prue Leith. Same tent, different chemistry.

Raw holds fifth place, and boy, this week’s episode was crazy. Solo Sikoa being abducted before his Money in the Bank qualifier was the moment that blew the whole thing open. Penta stepped into his place and did not waste the chance, beating Dominik Mysterio and Dragon Lee to grab a spot in the ladder match.

Further down, Turkish thriller Not a Stranger has made its way into the US Top 10 with a nanny story that starts with one mother questioning who she has invited into her home. Jo Koy’s Blue in the Face follows, while Crew Girl drops to eighth after three weeks on the chart.

And then there is Ms Rachel: 65 weeks in the US Top 10. Sixty-five. Parents will understand that number without further explanation. Danny Go! closes the list with five weeks of its own. That tells you if the kids have found something they will watch twice, nobody in that house is touching the remote.
