The 10 most popular series on Netflix US this week: August 2026

Whatever mood American Netflix viewers were in this week, they went all in, as murder investigations won the race while returning dramas made sure to remind everyone who still runs the place.

At number one, we have Death of the Pastor’s Wife, and this is one of those true crime stories that gets worse the more you hear. This one in particular is quite tragic because it doesn’t stop at Mica Miller’s death. Instead, it brings not only the unseen footage and testimony from her family but also the campaign for “Mica’s Law”, which would add coercive control to South Carolina’s domestic-abuse rules. And the bill stalled in 2026! After everything behind this case, that is where it stopped. Huh, that’s just sad.

Then we have Beauty in Black season three, and the Bellarie family needs some serious help because their trafficking operation is proximate to exposure, and Make It Rain has become another mess they have to deal with. Oh, and if you thought Jules would stop investigating his son’s death, that’s not happening.

Next comes Outer Banks season five, with the Pogues appearing one last time on Netflix. This season they dealt with JJ’s death while going after one last chance at revenge through the Blue Crown storyline, and after years of treasure hunts, the show turns around and starts asking what all of this has cost them. Another teary-eyed ending for a lovely Netflix drama.

Netflix US’s viewers haven’t disappointed us with their next pick, as they brought a brand new addition to the list: Talamasca: The Secret Order season one. This show comes in with Anne Rice’s supernatural world, following the secret group that keeps watch over supernatural beings.

Danny Go! season two is huge as well, which any parent could have seen coming, because a large viewership of Netflix US comes from its younger population, and for a show built around movement and learning games, it’s impossible not to be in the Top 10 list.

The rest of the list includes the second season of Leanne, which just came out on Netflix, along with the August 24th episode of Raw, Swedish thriller Blood Sacrifice season one, Salish & Jordan Matter season three, and Let’s Marry Harry: The Reunion. How did all of these end up on the same chart… Only Netflix can explain!
