The Top 10 Netflix shows for the second week of October have walked into the courtroom. One by one, they are ready to be judged by millions of viewers who swear they don’t take television personally but absolutely do.

First to the stand in the dock is Wayward, charged with emotional disturbance. And since it is a limited series, people are intrigued as they don’t have to wait for the cliffhanger to get resolved. Next comes Monster: The Ed Gein Story, another unnerving show the audience can’t get enough of. The audience knows it shouldn’t watch but can’t look away. Ryan Murphy stands in the corner like a repeat offender, accused of glamorising darkness. The show sits heavily in the air, and it, along with Wayward, shows that Netflix strategically plans its October releases.

Then, The House of Guinness enters. You see, if people are continuing the streak of thrillers and true-crime shows, they do not want to shift to humour immediately. And that’s when this history-inspired show walks in. The dynasty story walks tall, with its confidence soaked in heritage and heartbreak.

Love Is Blind barges in next. The peak of reality TV Netflix right now. Everyone swears they’ve had enough, yet the pod confessions and tequila tears pull record views. The show doesn’t defend itself, and it doesn’t need to. It knows the world is addicted to emotional mess.

At the centre bench sit Black Rabbit and Wednesday, two confident presences. Wednesday has been on the chart since its release. These shows are not fighting for attention because they already have it. Black Rabbit carries mystery in its stillness, while every frame of Wednesday is filled with wit and poise. The presence of these two shows in the top six, weeks after their release, is a prime example of a loyal fanbase.

Dark Winds is a new entry ranking at number seven. It’s that outsider nobody saw coming. The show brings desert dust, detective energy, and a strange silence that stays long after the credits. And though it’s an old show resurfaced, it doesn’t stop it from making a place in the global top 10.
