The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: November 2024

The nights are getting colder, which means only one thing — it’s officially Netflix season. Subscribers have an ample choice of series to pick from this time around, from highly-anticipated live sporting events and popular drama series to animated steampunk action adventures guaranteed to have you glued to the screen. This week, new entries in the top ten include the second season of a coveted political thriller and a search to uncover evidence of UFOs.

For several weeks, the coveted top spot on Netflix belonged to Outer Banks before The Lincoln Lawyer was handed the torch. However, an unsuspecting rival took its place this week after the streamer broadcasted its most ambitious and daring live sporting event yet—Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson.

This was a huge achievement for Netflix. Not only did it reinstate the platform’s position as one of the best sources for major sporting events, but it also achieved a milestone by smashing all previous stock records.

The stream itself attracted viewers from more than 60 million households, which peaked at 65million streams worldwide during the main fight. These viewing figures equated to around $18million in ticket sales—reportedly the second largest in boxing history outside Las Vegas. And all of this went ahead even amid some of the platform’s worst technical difficulties to date.

However, following a surge of complaints, the streamer felt compelled to celebrate the positive, saying in a statement: “60 million households around the world tuned in live to watch Paul vs. Tyson! The boxing mega-event dominated social media, shattered records, and even had our buffering systems on the ropes.”

While this proves it to be unsurprising that another show, Countdown: Paul Vs. Tyson has also captivated viewers enough to land the fifth spot; other shows climbing the Netflix popularity ladder include the well-loved second season of Arcane.

At just over 29million hours viewed, Arcane might not be that close to taking over the top spot any time soon, but its consistent popularity since its release proves the excitement surrounding Christian Linke and Alex Yee’s series is far from over.

Outer Banks and The Lincoln Lawyer appear to continually be in similarly favoured positions, while others have been replaced with newcomers Investigation Alien, a series following George Knapp’s quest to find real hard evidence that UFOs exist, and Beauty in Black, Tyler Perry’s latest drama following the very different lives of two women.
