The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: May 2026

Netflix viewers are still stuck on Nemesis, by the way, because, explain to us, how has this show been sitting at number one for two straight weeks already? That never happens anymore. People usually finish a series and then move on to the next psychopath documentary immediately after. But nah, this one has lingered. And the mad part is that barely anybody is even discussing the actual story now; rather, everybody’s panicking about the ending instead.

Nemesis follows an intense cat-and-mouse battle between an expert criminal and the detective determined to bring him down, with Matthew Law and Y’lan Noel leading the story. And honestly, a huge reason the show keeps trending is the tension between those two characters because every episode has them skating on thin ice.

Then right underneath that is The Boroughs, and we are sorry, but Netflix turning a retirement community into a supernatural horror series is ridiculous behaviour. Because who pitched that? Who decided to traumatise pensioners with monsters?? Be serious. But the second people saw the Duffer Brothers were involved, everybody immediately paid attention, obviously. And just when that intrigued people, they saw the amazing thing, cast with Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, and Alfre Woodard, so now you are invested, whether you planned to be or not. Watching older residents trying to deal with supernatural madness already sounds stressful enough before you watch the show and realise that it starts making everything ten times darker.

Then Worst Ex Ever, season two, has just taken a step down and is now sitting at number three. But it’s still in a really good position in the global chart, which is an indication that everybody is enjoying getting traumatised by dating horror stories all over again. The whole documentary follows survivors talking about manipulative relationships that turned dangerous, and honestly, the longer each episode goes on, the worse your stomach starts feeling. But people absolutely inhaled the first season, so this shooting straight into the charts was never shocking. Netflix viewers love terrifying themselves and then acting surprised afterwards.

Meanwhile, The Roast of Kevin Hart is still floating around near the top because social media physically cannot watch a roast this good and keep it to themselves. This thing streamed live from the Kia Forum with Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Shane Gillis and Katt Williams involved.

At number five, there is Man on Fire with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as John Creasy, and listen… people were always going to compare him to Denzel Washington immediately. There was no escaping that conversation. But Netflix actually based this version more on the original novels instead of trying to copy the 2004 film exactly, which probably helped. Still, though, taking over a role that iconic? That’s brave. Dead brave.

And then the chart completely loses its head after that because the next few entries are so random together. Legends is all undercover customs agents infiltrating drug-smuggling operations in 1990s Britain. But then, we have WWE crashing into the rankings with Raw: 2026 – May 18, 2026, because wrestling fans have spent the whole week screaming about Brock Lesnar returning and Roman Reigns facing Jacob Fatu in Tribal Combat. After that, since people seem to love reality TV relationship drama at the exact same time, Perfect Match season four turns up as well. The mood swings on this app need studying.

Then the last two entries somehow make the whole thing a mix of everything. Devil May Cry season two has gone down into Dante and Vergil’s rivalry, which fans were already emotionally attached to years ago, while Kylie finishes everything off by taking viewers through Kylie Minogue’s entire career from Neighbours all the way to global pop icon status.
