If you were hoping to ignore Stranger Things in this week’s charts, you are sorely mistaken. The hit series continues to be one of the most-watched series of Netflix’s entire canon, racking up an impressive 188 million more hours of viewing on the fourth season of the show.
While 2021 had been incredibly successful for Netflix, the streaming platform has been suffering tough financial losses this year. From a huge subscriber exodus in the early part of the year to dwindling stock prices and general disdain towards their quality of content, the streamer is currently in a tough spot.
Thank the Lord then, for the bustling emergence of Stranger Things as the platform’s most potent prospect will have given some shareholders a moment’s reprieve. The second instalment of the show’s fourth series has seen audiences once again make their way to Hawkins, Indiana to catch up with Mike, Will, Max, Dustin, Eleven and the rest of the gang. The entire franchise enjoyed 310 million hours of viewing across the four seasons.
The other widely-adored series du jour is The umbrella Academy with all three seasons in the top ten most-watched shows, amassing a total of over 75 million hours of viewing from Netflix audiences.
Much like last week, the only other notable entry is from Cillian Murphy’s iconic role as Tommy Shelby in the sixth season of Peaky Blinders, which welcomed 13 million hours of viewing.
Elsewhere, Manifest has quietly been gathering up a huge audience of adoring fans, having spent a huge ten weeks in the top ten charts — longer than any other series on the list, acquiring nearly 30 million hours of viewing.
