The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: December 2023

As a new week flows by, we have newer shows occupying the top ten series list on Netflix globally. There are the usual suspects—feel-good dramas, true crime documentaries, action adventures, plus, there are a few surprises.

At the helm of this week’s popularity chart is My Life With the Walter Boys. This coming-of-age drama unfolds the tumultuous life of a teenage girl who unexpectedly finds herself living with the rowdy Walter boys after a tragic incident.

The Crown season six continues its reign in the second spot. The final season may not have been perfect, but this tale about the British royal family will remain one of Netflix’s biggest and most pivotal shows ever.

For those with a penchant for adventure with a dose of raunch, Obliterated has been the jam for the past couple of weeks. The proof of its appeal lies in the fact that the first season takes the third spot on the chart with 35.6million viewing hours.

Exploring the annals of history, World War II: From the Frontlines. This documentary series uses revived archival footage that has never been seen before, providing an insightful and immersive look into one of the defining periods of the 20th century.

In the fifth spot, Squid Game: The Challenge continues to draw in audiences. The reality series spinoff of the hit South Korean series Squid Game is everything the show tried to criticise. Still, its success only proves how fascinated our society is with humans of late-stage capitalism and their voluntary self-exploitation.

The adrenaline-fueled journey of Car Masters: Rust to Riches returns with a fifth season that has secured the sixth spot. The medical crime docuseries Bad Surgeon: Love Under the Knife is the other dose of reality people can’t have enough of on Netflix.

The kids are happy and alright as Cocomelon Lane season one lands in eighth place. This one provides entertaining and educational content for the youngest members of the audience.

The Big Bang Theory spin-off prequel, Young Sheldon season one, is still maintaining its popularity after its recent arrival on the platform. And closing the top ten is School Spirits. This supernatural series centres around a recently deceased student who has to solve her own mysterious death while navigating high school in the afterlife.
