The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: August 2025
If your Netflix homepage is feeling slightly unhinged this week, that’s because everyone else’s is too. True crime, dream realms, suburban chaos, toddlers screaming Ms Rachel lyrics on loop. This week, the Netflix global Top 10 is a mess. A fascinating, chart-dominating mess.
It starts, of course, with Untamed. Not just the top show in the US, but now the number one globally. It is messy and dramatic. And it has that very specific “I’m not crying, I just haven’t slept” energy. People are projecting. The entire group is arguing about the ending. The cast is suddenly everywhere. It has arrived.
Right behind it is The Hunting Wives, which is not so much a show as a warning sign. If you have ever had a wine-fuelled meltdown in a maxi dress, it will be easy for you to relate. Someone dies, but that’s barely the most dramatic thing that happens.
And because the internet can’t sit still, Amy Bradley is Missing has people refreshing Wikipedia pages. They are scanning blurry cruise ship layouts like they are about to solve the case from their bed. It is the docuseries equivalent of “I’ll sleep after one more episode.” Only you won’t sleep.
Speaking of no sleep, The Sandman is back. Season 2 dropped a while ago, and people are back in dreamland. Or whatever weird, metaphysical void Morpheus lives in. It is moody, poetic, and deeply confusing if you are even slightly distracted, which is why people are rewinding entire episodes. Twice.
Also still here, haunting the Top 10 for its 21st week, is Wednesday: Season 1. She refuses to leave. People are rewatching it like there’s a pop quiz coming. Probably because Season 2 is on the way, and everyone wants to relive that dance and that stare.
Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes is also lurking around the middle of the chart, proving that true crime fatigue is a myth. And further down the list, Leanne and Raw are still hanging on. Slightly unexplainable, this is the kind of show that makes you feel things you don’t have language for. They aren’t crowd-pleasers, but they stick… Like emotional moss.
And because balance is everything, the chart closes with WWE: Unreal and Ms Rachel. One is a fake fight show with real tears. The other is a woman pointing at apples while children scream with joy. This is Ms Rachel’s 20th week in the Top 10. She is still winning. Probably more than the rest of us.
In short, Netflix viewers this week are tired, suspicious, emotionally unstable, and extremely online. Nothing makes sense. And that’s what makes the Top 10 feel just right.
