The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: April 2024

From April 22nd to April 28th, 2024, Netflix viewers have been tuning into a variety of series more entertaining than the films. Here are the ten most popular series on the streaming giant this week.

Leading the pack is Baby Reindeer, the British drama-thriller miniseries that has got audiences hook, line and sinker. Created by and starring Richard Gadd, the series revolves around Gadd’s real-life experience of being stalked and sexually assaulted in his 20s. With stellar performances from Gadd himself and Jessica Gunning, Baby Reindeer is a must-watch series on Netflix right now.

Next up is Dead Boy Detectives, the supernatural horror detective comedy-drama that brings a fresh twist to the genre. Developed by Steve Yockey and based on the DC Comics characters, the series follows Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, ghost detectives who investigate crimes involving the supernatural.

Taking viewers on a daring social experiment is Unlocked: A Jail Experiment in its third week on the top ten list. Sheriff Eric Higgins’ radical proposal to allow incarcerated men to roam free in their unit has sparked intrigue and controversy. As viewers witness the consequences of this bold endeavour, the series offers an insight into the criminal justice system in America.

Meanwhile, CoComelon Lane caters to younger audiences with its whimsical adventures and colourful characters. Perfect for a cosy family viewing, this animated series is accompanied by another animated series, Bad Dinosaurs, which is in the top ten this week.

The Gentlemen is still going strong as well after spending eight consecutive weeks on the global charts. Created by Guy Ritchie, this action comedy series follows Edward Horniman as he inherits an unexpected estate and a drug empire. With Theo James leading the cast, The Gentlemen is full of the usual Ritchie sense of style and humour.

3 Body Problem is also on a six-week winning streak. The science fiction series is an adaptation of Liu Cixin’s Hugo Award-winning novel. Created by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and True Blood writer Alexander Woo, the first season of the series explores humanity’s reaction to first encounters of the extraterrestrial kind.

Coming back to the only planet we get to call home (for now), Our Living World is a limited series that celebrates the richness of Earth’s biodiversity. With stunning visuals and insightful narration by Cate Blanchett, the series offers a reminder of the importance of preserving our natural heritage.

Returning for its sixth season is The Circle, a lighthearted yet strategic competition series where players must navigate the complexities of social media to win a cash prize. With its addictive gameplay and colourful personalities, The Circle has cornered the reality fan market on Netflix for now.

Rounding out the top ten is the second season of Heartbreak High. The Australian series, a soft reboot of the 1994 original, follows the trials and tribulations of high school life with a fresh, contemporary twist. And that’s all! What have you been bingeing on Netflix this week?
