The 10 most popular series on Netflix this week: April 2022

There’s no doubt that Netflix is fast becoming the go-to for unwinding after a long day’s work, which means the days of soaps and TV shows are under threat. It makes sense then to create series for Netflix, which is what the following shows did very well:

At number ten this week is, Is It Cake? A series that shows off the talent of bakers who can replicate everyday objects, including handbags and even sewing machines, so well you can’t tell them apart. The show is a product of viral videos that circulated the internet. This popularity has clearly been passed onto Netflix, too, with the series surpassing 11.21 million hours watched by its adoring fans.

At number nine is a more sombre docuseries, Jimmy Savile – A British Horror Story. The limited series looks into what used to be the most loved TV star in the UK but now is the most hated. With first-hand accounts from his victims, the show truly stands out from the crowd as one of the best of its kind, and the numbers show it, with 11.41 million hours watched by viewers worldwide.

Standing at number eight is Better Call Saul Season 5. The show’s fifth season follows the controversial lawyer Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk in this Emmy-nominated prequel to the equally incredible Breaking Bad.

At number seven is the Queen of the South, a drama that allows viewers into the life of Teresa, a woman who has to rely on her street smarts when she’s forced to work for a cartel that killed her boyfriend. A fascinating concept; fans seem to agree, too, because the series has been watched for 13.1 million hours.

From Teresa to Anna now, as the list moves on to the miniseries Inventing Anna for the sixth spot. The series stars an audacious entrepreneur as she convinces the New York elite she is a German heiress.

The nature documentary Our Great National Parks is in the middle of the list, with Barack Obama narrating; the show shines a spotlight on the planet’s beauty. With establishing shots of vast nature, nature fans everywhere have enjoyed over seventeen million hours of the docuseries.

In fourth place, the first season of Bridgerton is still exceptionally popular among period-drama fans everywhere. This season, we are introduced to the Bridgerton family as we learn about their life in London’s high society.

Anatomy of Scandal holds third place. The political drama follows Sophie’s privileged life as her politician husband’s web of scandals surfaces as he is accused of a shocking crime. The series is adored by fans who watched over 40 million hours of this brand new concept of a show.

The runner up this week is the Ultimatum- Marry or Move On. This reality show allows contestants to put their love to the test. The series, starring Nick Lachey, is a much-loved addition to the many reality shows on Netflix, garnering a vast 58.47 million hours.

At the number one spot this week is Bridgerton season 2. The much anticipated season continues as the eight siblings in the Bridgerton family continue to look for love and happiness in 19th century London. The show, starring Julie Anderson, has been watched for 66.61 million hours by fans who have fallen in love with the history-making show.
