The 10 most popular movies on Netflix US this week: September 2026

It’s one of those crazy weeks on Netflix where the most popular movies chart is buzzing with wedding bells, and it’s all thanks to Tyler Perry.

During the week of September 7th to September 13th, Perry’s long-awaited threequel, Why Did I Get Married Again? touched down on Netflix and cracked the most popular movies chart with 19.3million views, becoming the number one title in 14 countries, including the Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and the United States, among others.

Up next on the most popular movies chart in the US this week is Taylor Sheridan’s 2021 action thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead, starring Angelina Jolie. While the film already debuted on the international charts this week, it clearly enjoys a better seat Stateside.

By the looks of it, The Whisper Man, directed by James Ashcroft, has seemingly lost a lot this week. In the US as well as overseas, the serial killer thriller was toppled by Perry’s comedy drama. However, the mystery thriller also lost a spot in the US and is currently ranked third.

Positioned fourth on the most popular movies chart this week is Turning Point: Generation 9/11, directed by Brian Knappenberger, which is no surprise considering it also made it to the top five globally. Speaking of surprises, Netflix US surely has one in store this week: the 2012 Mark Wahlberg action thriller, Contraband.

Next in line on the most popular movies chart is the latest chapter of Netflix’s Untold Mr T: I Pity the Fool, followed by the fan-favourite animated comedy based on the popular video game, The Angry Birds 2. But if you think that’s the only animated title reigning the US charts, you’re gravely mistaken.

Following closely on the most popular movies chart is another animated blast from the past, Shark Tale, which was recently added back to the Netflix library in several regions, including the United States.

Moving on to the final titles of the week, Netflix has the Danish psychological thriller The Secret Woman, holding on to its momentum for a third consecutive week at ninth, and the Samara Weaving horror-comedy Ready or Not at tenth. And with those, we officially come to a close for now!
