The 10 most popular movies on Netflix US this week: October 2026
Netflix US’ movie chart was heading to be in sync with the global movie chart…. But then it decided to change gears, and the viewers chose movies which someone can take a look at and say is Netflix US’ chart.
Just like the global chart, this week’s Netflix Top 10 has got Ben Affleck sitting right at the top with Animals, but honestly, there’s loads of drama that went on behind the scenes as well, and his film nearly didn’t happen.
So, Animals, right, Affleck originally had Matt Damon and Jennifer Garner in mind for the lead role, but then he found out Spike Lee and Denzel Washington were making something with a similar story, so he decided it wasn’t worth the hassle and scrapped the whole thing. Then when he came back to it, Damon was busy with The Odyssey, and Garner had dropped out, so Affleck ended up starring himself and Kerry Washington, and the result is proof that he made the right choice.
At number two, there’s Doing Life, with Jay Reeves working with Tyler Perry again after The Six Triple Eight, alongside Naomi Baker from All American: Homecoming, and Perry’s written and directed this one too.
Then at number three, you’ve got Terry McMillan Presents: Preach, Pray, Love, which looks like a brand-new Netflix film, but it actually aired on Lifetime back in 2025, so it’s not exactly fresh out of the oven. Karrueche Tran stars and is executive producer, and Da Brat’s in it too, and Netflix viewers have basically given an older film another run.
Fourth is Sacrifice, the dark comedy starring Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy, with a plot so weird yet wonderful it immediately jumped to number four even after releasing just a few days ago.
Now fifth is The Breadwinner, where Nate Bargatze plays a dad who is completely out of his depth and experiences what a homemaker’s life looks like when his wife’s career takes off, and he manages the household. Surprisingly, critics aren’t impressed, but the viewers seem to be loving it, so make of that what you will.
Then Twilight comes in sixth, and one thing that can be said with one hundred per cent certainty about the US viewers is that whenever the platform has brought back this Vampire movie series or decided to remove it, it has made it back to the chart.
Seventh is the original Ice Age, followed by Collision Course at eight, and rounding things off, The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part sits ninth, from documentary director Chris Smith, while UNABOMBER takes tenth with Russell Crowe playing psychologist Henry Murray, so yes, people, we’ve gone from vampires playing baseball to a Harvard psychology scandal. Netflix really is throwing everything at the wall this week, isn’t it?
