The 10 most popular movies on Netflix US this week: October 2025

Despite keeping its hold strong in the US last week, KPop Demon Hunters has been officially toppled from the top spot in the most popular movies chart on Netflix this time around. But it’s not Simon Stone’s psychological thriller with the last laugh.

Instead, the true-crime documentary film, The Perfect Neighbour, is clutching gold on the summit. Following closely in second position is The Woman in Cabin 10, starring Keira Knightley, which began making waves on the global radar last week. Now, the cinematic fever has reached the US rankings as well, giving fans a glimpse of its extensive hold on Netflix subscribers.

As for Maggie Kang’s animated chart-topper, akin to the global landscape, it has been reduced to the third position in its 18th week on the chart. But despite the fall, it’s still going strong, and it shows, as fans would expect nothing less from the longest-running top ten title ever in Netflix history.

That said, the road comedy film, Vacation, which was added to the Netflix library relatively recently, has also tiptoed onto the most popular movies chart in the US. It’s currently ranked fourth, meaning it’s steadily rising through the ranks. Meanwhile, rounding out the top five titles Stateside is Taken in Plain Sight, enjoying a far more comfortable spot compared to the international rankings.

The true-crime frenzy also remains intact, with My Father, the BTK Killer, claiming the sixth spot. Although it has a slightly less favourable grip in contrast to its global spot, the discrepancy clearly has no shortcomings in its popularity. The same is true for The Maze Runner movie collection as well.

While one of the movies has exited the US rankings, The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials refuse to fade into oblivion. The films are currently reigning at the seventh and eighth positions, respectively.

The animation craze may not be as profound in the US as it is internationally. However, Despicable Me 3 has extended its stay at number nine. Lastly, wrapping up the trends in America is a Halloween-coded movie, I Know What You Did Last Summer, which serves as a 2025 reboot of the 1997 cult classic.
