The 10 most popular movies on Netflix US this week: October 2025

Things are not very different when you zoom in on the cinematic landscape that’s trending in the US when compared to the global statistics on Netflix, at least near the summit. By that, we mean, KPop Demon Hunters also takes the cake on the most popular movies chart Stateside, there’s absolutely no doubt about that.

While Maggie Kang’s animated flick remains the undisputed chart-topper as far as the eyes go, in the week dated September 29th to October 5th, there are many more similarities between the global cinematic flagbearers and those pumping their chest in the US.

Akin to the international most popular movies chart, the top three positions are taken by KPop Demon Hunters, followed by the biblical retelling, Ruth & Boaz, and Ralph Macchio’s Karate Kid: Legends. Although the three are poles apart in terms of genre, Netflix subscribers are clearly loving the fact that they are spoiled for choice.

Meanwhile, the laughter riots, which were slightly at the bottom in the global rankings, Dog Man, the superhero animated comedy, and About My Father, the Robert de Niro-led comedy, enjoy a far more comfortable seat on the US charts. The former is currently ranked fourth on the most popular movies chart, and the latter is positioned fifth, offering viewers the perfect dose of comedy punch amidst the creeping pumpkin season.

Also rising through the ranks is the throwback romantic comedy film 10 Things I Hate About You, which was recently added to Netflix in October. The 1999 film is ranked sixth on the most popular movies chart in the US. Moving on, on the seventh is the 2022 crime thriller starring Keke Palmer, Alice, presently gaining steam by the minute.

But the rom-com fever is as palpable in the US charts as the animation frenzy on the global one. Another throwback romantic comedy, Sweet Home Alabama, has found a home at the eighth position this week.

Lastly, rounding out the list is a comedy sci-fi flick, Idiocracy, at ninth, followed by Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance on the tenth, making this week’s most popular movies chart look like a perfect dose of movie marathon in itself.
