With Swapped flapping its wings and taking an unexpected flight on the most popular international Netflix movies chart this week, did you really think the Netflix US trends would touchdown elsewhere? Neither did we!

In the week of May 4th to May 10th, Nathan Greno’s animated fantasy-adventure movie skyrocketed on the most popular movies chart with 38.7million views, becoming the number one movie in 77 countries, including the United States.

Although Swapped entered the most popular chart in the premiere week itself, as the second most-popular English-language movie with 15.5million views earned in its first three days, this week, it has clearly cracked into the big leagues with thrice the size of a leap in just a few days.

Following it closely on the most popular movies chart in the US is Olivia Newman’s Netflix adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s Remarkably Bright Creatures. While the anticipation for the mystery drama was always through the roof, the reception and the buzz that followed its release proved that nothing really comes close to good storytelling for fans.

Speaking of hype, although every recent Netflix release has experienced its fair share, the craze surrounding Apex is simply second to none. Now that we’re three weeks into the survival thriller’s release on Netflix, it’s safe to say that the hulabaloo surrounding prestige movies is far from dead. So, the action-packed thriller retaining its position on the top three of the most popular movies chart is actually no surprise.

That said, if you’re familiar with the global trendsetters of the week, you must have already met eyes with a few blasts from the past, including The Proposal, which is now ranked fourth on the most popular movies chart in the US. But in case you’re struggling to recollect, another rom-com classic also had viewers in a chokehold, Mother’s Day, currently positioned fifth Stateside.

Similarly, the animated sci-fi comedy Home has also made itself right at home on the most popular movies chart. But once you scroll below, you’ll run into another ally of the rom-com genre, Pretty Woman, doing the rounds of the Netflix US trends.
