The most popular movies chart on Netflix US is defying international trends to hoist the flag of a slapstick action-adventure comedy this week, and we’re here for it.

Following the latest addition of Jack Black and Paul Rudd’s Anaconda on March 25th, the 2025 movie has not only sneaked into the most popular movies chart globally but also into the US, where it is leading the pack. The movie debuted with 7.9million views internationally, ranking third, and Americans have now ensured it wears the crown of US trends.

Up next on the most popular movies chart is the heist comedy sequel loosely based on Aaron Blabey’s The Bad Guys book series, The Bad Guys 2. While the frenzy surrounding animated titles persists 365 days a year, this underscores that Netflix never really misses the mark with its picks, even if they aren’t original productions.

That said, the title that succeeds the animated sequel is also animated, Minions: The Rise of Gru. Although the first two Despicable Me movies are set to leave Netflix with the onset of April, Minions: The Rise of Gru’s sudden appearance on the most popular movies chart in the US clarifies that the audience is still not done with the series.  

Similarly, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is not yet done sprinkling its gangster magic. Despite losing a few spots on Netflix’s most popular movies chart in the US, it is currently ranked fourth.
