When Netflix takes a leap of faith, it’s usually worth it. So, it should come as no surprise that reuniting the dynamic duo of Hollywood, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, for The Rip also paid off in gold. To give you an idea, the action thriller debuted with a staggering 41.6million views in the week dated January 12th to January 18th.

Currently, the cop thriller is the number one movie in 82 countries, including the US, the UK, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Panama, and El Salvador, among others.

While The Rip undeniably deserves to reign at the top of the most popular movies chart on Netflix US, succeeding it is the first Emily Henry adaptation for the screen, People We Meet on Vacation. Considering the rom-com’s stronghold on the global charts, it’s not exactly surprising that the previous week’s chart-topper is still going strong in the race.

Moving on to number three, there’s the gripping retelling of a shocking true crime, Suitcase Killer: The Melanie McGuire Story, rising through the ranks on the most popular movies chart on Netflix US this week.

Up next, we have Maggie Kang’s record-breaking animated fantasy musical, KPop Demon Hunters, still undisputed and making waves on Netflix. Meanwhile, closing out the top five titles is the recently released behind-the-scenes documentary of the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series, One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5.

Coming to the sixth movie on the most popular movies chart on Netflix US, there’s a new player on the radar, a biographical drama film, Soul on Fire, about a St Louis native who survived fire burns covering his whole body, John O’Leary.

That said, it looks like the Valentine’s Day fever has made an early entry in the US, as is evident with An Unexpected Valentine’s sudden appearance on the chart. While, in all honesty, we don’t mind, closing in on the last three spots on the most popular movies chart in the US, well, they belong to animation.

Ranking eighth on the chart is The Bad Guys, followed by Paw Patrol: The Movie in ninth, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in tenth. And with that, we come to a close for the week.
