The 10 most popular movies on Netflix US this week: January 2026

If you were surprised by the global trends on the most popular movies chart this week, better be ready for Netflix to pull a few rabbits out of its hat in the US.

By the looks of it, the US viewership is seemingly contributing quite a significant amount to the craze surrounding rom-coms this week. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Emily Henry adaptation, People We Meet on Vacation, is also a superhit Stateside, currently placed right at the top of the charts. As the number one movie in 33 countries, it has amassed 17.2million views globally in its debut week.

Again, similar to the most popular movies chart, the one in the US also has Skye Borgman’s Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story succeeding the rom-com. The true-crime docu-film has sparked considerable buzz on the online radar, having brought to light one of the most harrowing cases of child abuse in recent history.

Fresh off its Golden Globes sweep, there’s Maggie Kang’s record-breaking and award-winning animated musical fantasy film, KPop Demon Hunters, strutting with its head held high at number three. In case you’re unfamiliar, it’s been on the most popular movies chart for 30 weeks now.

Moving on, we have yet another animated film, a heist comedy, The Bad Guys, ranked fourth. While the children’s adaptation already sneaked into the global charts in the week dated January 5th to January 11th, it clearly enjoys a far better hold in the US.

Meanwhile, rounding out the top five titles on this week’s chart is the beloved biographical romance drama led by Jacob Elordi and Sofia Coppola, Priscilla.

But it’s not just the romance that US viewers are craving; it’s also the right amount of laughter and humour that comes with it, as is evident from the 2011 rom-com rising through the ranks on the most popular movies chart, Just Go with It. The Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler-led rom-com is currently ranked sixth, and we totally understand why.

Coming up next on the US charts is actually a cult favourite, Pitch Perfect. Ever since Netflix added it to its US library alongside the sequel, it has made itself right at home at the streaming giant. And so has the fan-favourite superhero animated film from the Spider-Man franchise, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Following closely is yet another animated movie, Paw Patrol: The Movie, which proves that the frenzy surrounding the genre is on par with the global scale. Having said that, the movie to wrap up this week’s most popular choice is the Denzel Washington-led action thriller, Man on Fire. And with that, we officially come to a close for the week.
