A significant shift has occurred in the most popular movies chart on Netflix US within a week. But just to be clear, the peak remains as it is: glowing and beaming like a North Star.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is visibly giving its competitors a run for their money in the week dated December 15th to December 21st, as it once again stands atop Stateside. While the Knives Out film is also a global chart-topper this week, even the Americans would have it in no other way.

Having said that, the holiday rom-com craze persists in the US, with A Christmas Cowboy Romance charting on the most popular movies list in second. The Christmas title also made an appearance in the global trends, but in America? It’s clearly enjoying a far better position.

As for the third slot, the South Korean sci-fi flick, The Great Flood, has been making a splash on the most popular movies chart in the US. The recently released Netflix movie may not have made it to the international charts, but Americans have taken a liking towards it.

Yet, akin to the global trends, the hype surrounding animation has already seeped here as well. And the titles rounding out the top five, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie and KPop Demon Hunters, are proof. For those still out of the loop, this serves as the 27th week for Maggie Kang’s record-breaking movie, which is also Netflix’s most-watched title of all time.

In the sixth position, we have A Line of Fire making waves on the most popular movies chart on Netflix US. While it’s more of a surprise entry for the holiday mood board, succeeding the action thriller is a true crime docu-film, Murder in Monaco.

The frenzy surrounding the gripping new documentary is not limited to the US, as is evident from its appearance on Netflix’s global charts this week. But here onwards, the charts scream festivities out loud.

Following the docu-film closely is a holiday rom-com that viewers simply cannot get over: My Secret Santa. In fact, the follow-up film on this week’s most popular movies chart in the US is also a Christmas romantic comedy, Christmas at the Chalet.

Finally, striking out the movie trends for the week is Mean Girls, and with that, we officially come to a close.
