That’s right! Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is not just leading the global pack in the week dated December 8th to December 14th; it’s dominating the US landscape too! And considering the murder mystery’s gripping premise, the wins are honestly no surprise.

Succeeding Rian Johnson’s latest whodunit is a Christmas title, My Secret Santa, the holiday romantic comedy that topped the most popular charts last week. Following closely in third position is Jay Kelly, the Noah Baumbach comedy-drama starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler.

While the top three candidates on the most popular movies chart on Netflix US might make you feel like it’s a replica of the global trends, it’s from here that the real shift can be felt.

With Netflix trends, the game of musical chairs is a must. So, on the fourth, we have The Covenant instead of Maggie Kang’s record-breaking animated movie. However, the fifth spot unmistakably belongs to the Golden Globes-nominated KPop Demon Hunters.

Up next, there’s the Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson-led comedy drama, The Hustle, which serves as the female-led remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which, in turn, is a remake of the 1964 film, Bedtime Story.

Following the double trouble of con artists, we have a Niam Leeson action thriller, Honest Thief, ranking seventh. Both the above-mentioned flicks are in their first week on the most popular movies chart in the US. But these are definitely not the only blasts from the past Americans have been enjoying this holiday season.

After Netflix added Mean Girls to its library this December, the film’s dedicated fanbase is clearly back at it. The 2004 romantic comedy is getting comfortable in the eighth position. Following it closely is an animated gem and a Christmas special edition, Dr Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat.

Lastly, rounding out the most popular movies chart on Netflix US is yet another rom-com we all know all too well by now, A Merry Little Ex-Mas. So, with that, we reach the end of this week’s trends.
