The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: October 2026
A new week calls for a reset of past showbiz trends, but the top spot of Netflix’s most popular movies chart belongs to the same candidate who hoisted the winner’s flag last time. And no, we’re not here to complain!
During the week of September 28th to October 4th, Janus Metz Pedersen’s gripping crime thriller UNABOMBER came out on top of Netflix’s most popular movies chart for a second consecutive week with 24.9million views, becoming the number-one movie in 70 countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, and Costa Rica, among others.
Ranked second on the most popular movies chart this week is Chris Smith’s The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part with 11.6million views. The true-crime documentary about the infamous Black Widower is one of the top 10 trending movies in 59 countries this week.
Up next on the most popular movies chart is Tyler Perry’s newest urban drama, Doing Life, which just debuted in the top 10 with 9.3million views. The heartwarming romance is currently the number-one movie in six countries, including the Bahamas, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad & Tobago, and South Africa.
Following closely on the most popular movies chart is Eric Appel’s comedy The Breadwinner with 5.3million views. Meanwhile, rounding out the top five trendsetters of the week is the Denzel Washington-led action-thriller The Equalizer 3, with 5million views, marking its fifth return to the Netflix chart.
Next in the lineup is a spooky-season favourite, The Mummy, which recently hit Netflix shelves and wasted no time cracking the most-popular movies chart with 3.1million views. Succeeding the horror blast from the past is James Ashcroft’s newest serial-killer thriller, The Whisper Man, based on Alex North’s best-selling novel, with 2.7million views.
While this marks The Whisper Man’s sixth consecutive week on the most popular movies chart, next on the list is surprisingly a classic rom-com from the early 2010s: What’s Your Number?
Although many titles are first-timers on the most popular movies chart this week, the same cannot be said for A Minecraft Movie, based on the popular video game. The Jack Black-starrer has been reigning on the weekly global rankings for the last three weeks.
Lastly, speaking of dominance, no one really does it like Maggie Kang’s Oscar-winning KPop Demon Hunters, which just completed its 67th week on the most popular movies chart. And with that, it’s officially a wrap for the week!
