The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: September 2025

The North Star of Netflix charts has finally been outshone. For a change of cinematic air, KPop Demon Hunters is no longer leading this week’s top ten most popular movies chart on the streamer.

Instead, a new rom-com, The Wrong Paris, starring Miranda Cosgrove, now holds the top spot as the number one movie in 53 countries. This week alone, the film has amassed 21.8million views, surpassing Maggie Kang’s record-breaking animation by 0.6million views after the latter garnered 21.2million views, slipping into second position.

But the change of air feels palpable even when you leave the peak on its own, as Liam Neeson’s latest action thriller, Ice Road: Vengeance, makes waves on the charts at third. Meanwhile, the documentary craze remains intact with Andrew Renzi’s explosive docufilm, aka Charlie Sheen, rounding out the top four movies.

And a little down the line, you’ll stumble onto Clint Eastwood’s 2018 crime drama, The Mule, which is currently rising through the ranks at the fifth position. Although The Mule’s chart ranking was not exactly on the weekly bingo cards, it remains sandwiched between two Netflix original documentaries, Charlie Sheen’s tell-all film and Unknown Number: High School Catfish.

By the time you’re done with the documentaries, you’ll finally greet a familiarly warm face on the top ten most popular movies chart on Netflix, which is The Thursday Murder Club. The fanaticism still lives on for this cosy whodunit, but the animation pick of the week has also undergone a visible change.

Paw Patrol: The Movie is no longer extending its stay on the top ten most popular movies chart for another week. Instead, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has sneaked in, making itself comfortable at eighth on the chart in the week dated September 15th to September 21st.

Wrapping up this week’s most popular movies are two crime drama films, each of a distinct brand. On the ninth, we have the 2016 black comedy crime drama, War Dogs, co-led by Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. Lastly, rounding out the chart is Terror Comes Knocking: The Marcela Borges Story.
