The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: September 2025

The game of musical chairs has again begun on the top ten most popular movies chart on Netflix. Compensating for the briefly lost momentum is KPop Demon Hunters, once again claiming the cinematic throne.

Despite losing the top spot to Unknown Number: High School Catfish last week, Maggie Kang’s animated chart-topper is back for more. For its 13th week on the Netflix chart, KPop Demon Hunters has garnered 22.6million views as the number one title in 39 countries.

Succeeding the all-time record-holder on the top ten most popular movies chart in the week dated September 8th to September 14th is a new rom-com, The Wrong Paris, starring Miranda Cosgrove. As the number one movie in 18 countries, the latest Netflix entry has amassed 12.8million views. Although marked by a significant drop this time around, Unknown Number: High School Catfish is still going strong, rounding out the top three titles on Netflix this week.

But that’s not the only documentary that has caught every eye. Andrew Renzi’s explosive new docufilm, aka Charlie Sheen, is currently ranked fourth, underscoring the hype surrounding the star’s shocking revelations. Meanwhile, The Thursday Murder Club is slowly climbing down the global chart, from last week’s third position to this week’s fifth.

While the frenzy has also toned down on the Shrek franchise, Shrek still stands cool at sixth. However, a blast from the past has quietly tiptoed into the most popular movies chart this week, Kevin Spacey and Samuel L Jackson’s 1998 crime thriller, The Negotiator. And it’s clearly leaving its mark on the seventh.

Following closely is another throwback thriller starring Morgan Freeman, Along Came a Spider. It is presently positioned eighth on the global charts. Although Netflix users have always loved a good thriller, animated titles remain their contemporary guilty pleasure.

So, even with the dip in the fanaticism with the Shrek movie collection, Shrek 2 has not yet given up. Like its predecessor, the film has kept its foothold strong at ninth. Finally, wrapping up this week’s most popular movies chart is another animated gem that refuses to leave the Netflix list, Paw Patrol: The Movie, clearly extending its staycation for another round at tenth.
