A week on Netflix means back-and-forth shuffles in the cinematic landscape. Although the peak of the most popular movies on Netflix hasn’t moved an inch since last week, changes are visible elsewhere.

True to its streak, A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE is still ruling at the summit of the most popular movies chart across the globe, having amassed 31.6million views this week alone. On the other hand, KPop Demon Hunters has shown a slight climb, cosying itself at the second position this time, instead of calling it home at the third.

In the week dated October 27th to November 2nd, Emily Turner’s true-crime documentary, Aileen: Queen of the Serial Killers, has risen through the ranks, sitting currently at the third spot. Meanwhile, the Collin Farrell starrer, Ballad of a Small Player, has also sneaked into the global chart, although it couldn’t topple Kathryn Bigelow’s thriller from the top spot.

After generating 6.9million views in the first week of its release, the psychological thriller now ranks fourth as a top ten movie in 81 countries. Rounding out the top five titles on this week’s most popular movies chart on Netflix is another true-crime documentary fans know all too well now, The Perfect Neighbour.

But the next few titles on the list confirm that Netflix subscribers have been living in a complete state of thrill, with not one but two back-to-back psychological thrillers making waves on the streaming platform. Firstly, it’s Simon Stone’s The Woman in Cabin 10, starring Keira Knightley, in the sixth position, followed by the Michael Douglas blast from the past, Don’t Say a Word.

With Netflix, the trends are often a shade of grey. However, this week seems rather different as viewers have clearly been inclined towards two particular genres. By now, spectators must have gotten a hunch of what we’re getting at, even if partly.

If anything, the next three titles will clear up any doubts that may exist. The last three movies on the most popular movies chart on Netflix are a deep dive into the world of animation, and each entry is iconic on its own. In eighth position, we have the newly released Roald Dahl adaptation, The Twits, followed by The Secret Life of Pets. And lastly, wrapping it all up this week is Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, clearly on a mission to extend its stay.
