The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: July-August 2026
The thing about Netflix’s weekly most popular movies chart is that it never really runs out of MVPs. While some tend to stay at the top of the race beyond their weekly tenure, others are like shooting stars – one minute atop, the next minute nowhere to be found.
But during the week of July 27th to August 2nd, Tim Story’s latest comedy, 72 HOURS, starring Kevin Hart, has again come out on top for a second week straight with a whopping 25.1million views, meaning the chart game is going extremely strong.
As of now, the laugh-out-loud comedy is the number one movie in 53 countries, including the Bahamas, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Martinique, among others.
Ranked second on the most popular movies chart this week is the shocking true-crime movie A Toxic Love Story, which sheds light on an unbelievable miscarriage of justice. With 12.9million views amassed this week, the Netflix Original documentary is also the number-one movie in four countries: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, and Australia.
Up next on the most popular movies chart is the 2024 martial arts animated comedy Kung Fu Panda 4, with 4.1million views. While the film remains a number-one movie in three countries this week, the resurgence is likely led by its recent arrival on Netflix.
Succeeding the fan-favourite follow-up on the most popular movies chart is Voicemails for Isabelle, with 3.6million views. Although it is already the third most-watched Netflix Original rom-com from the first half of the year, by the looks of it, the Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson starrer is far from done breaking records.
Following closely with 3.5million views is the Oscar-winning KPop Demon Hunters, currently in its 59th consecutive week on Netflix’s weekly chart. Meanwhile, next in line on the most popular movies chart is the 2011 American psychological thriller Take Shelter, starring Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon, with 3.1million views.
While that’s a surprise entry this week, the next spot on the most popular movies chart belongs to yet another record-breaking animated fantasy comedy, Swapped, with 3million views in its 12-week stay. That said, even though the cinematic mood is largely light-hearted, ranked eighth this week is the most-watched movie of 2026 so far, War Machine, starring Alan Ritchson.
As for the titles rounding out the most popular movies chart? They are Spider-Man: Homecoming and Ordinary Angels with 2.9million views each. And with that, it’s a wrap for the week!
