The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: July 2025
For a hot minute, it seemed like no force on Earth or the underworld could dethrone the K-pop superstars who’d set up camp on Netflix charts, taken over Spotify, and moonwalked up the Billboard. But lo and behold, the mighty demon slayers have passed the crown to a new contender – the equally unhinged and unstoppable Happy Gilmore 2. Unlike the last few weeks, this week’s list of the ten most popular movies on Netflix is not a surprise; it’s refreshing.
Happy Gilmore 2 has amassed 46.7million views since its release on Friday, July 25th. It is currently the number one movie in 47 countries. With the comedy sequel storming Netflix charts, KPop Demon Hunters had no option but to leave the room. However, it’s still going strong at number two, having spent six weeks on the ten most popular movies chart already.
But Happy isn’t leaving without prescribing enough pills of happiness, as the 1996 original, Happy Gilmore, takes up the third position. The Dennis Dugan-directed comedy tiptoed onto the Netflix charts long ago in hopes of enjoying a seat at the table with its happy-go-lucky follow-up. And now, the Adam Sandler double bill is busy squeezing the former champion. Happy Gilmore is also a top ten movie in 56 countries.
Meanwhile, Andrew Knightlinger’s adventure flick, Lost on a Mountain in Maine, has made a steep climb on the chart. It has been on a swing since last week and has secured a seat among the top five competitors. As for the fifth title on the ten most popular movies chart on Netflix this week? It belongs to the realm of the ridiculously true, Trainwreck: PI Moms.
The Trainwreck episodes have become regular chart-toppers. So, honestly, it’s not unexpected that fans are still caught up in the bizarre. But with the chart reshuffle, Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Destination Wedding has been dragged down to the sixth position. It looks like the Bahamas wedding had nothing on the hype surrounding Happy’s retirement from golf.
Amidst the familiar chart faces, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation has quietly sneaked in to beat the summer blues at seven. But that’s not the only fresh face. Netflix subscribers have also been loving Dwayne Johnson’s Rampage, presently at number eight.
Another Netflix original title that has gone down the chart is Charlize Theron’s chart-topping action sequel, The Old Guard 2. While she ensured immortals were still cool, turns out so is survival, as Until Dawn caves into Netflix’s most popular movies list.
