The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: July 2025

It is not easy to survive the tidal shifts of Netflix‘s reshuffles. Many succumb to the overwhelming transitions, ultimately getting lost in the waves. But every now and then comes a title to flip the script of algorithmic trends, making their presence a buzz in itself. And this week, Netflix’s most popular movies list is led globally by an animated title that has done it before: KPop Demon Hunters.

Having showcased an audacious chart-topping performance in its premiere week, KPop Demon Hunters even broke a Rotten Tomatoes record that left viewers scrambling. And just when the real K-pop universe was busy extoling Maggie Kang’s animated musical action film, KPop Demon Hunters climbed back to the top of the charts. The film has officially reclaimed the top spot, becoming the number one English-language movie in 26 countries this week.

Next on the list is Tyler Perry’s 13th Madea film, a laughter riot in its own, Madea’s Destination Wedding. The comedy sees the Madea family making their way to the Bahamas for a big, fat, unexpected wedding. It hasn’t even been a week since the movie dropped on Netflix. But given its swift touchdown on Netflix’s most popular movie list, it looks like KPop Demon Hunters has a competition to consider.

The Old Guard 2, Charlize Theron’s action sequel and last week’s crown-holder, has slipped from the first to the third position. Meanwhile, the Trainwreck anthology is far from losing its momentum on Netflix, meaning the episodes are getting better by the week. No matter how bizarre, Trainwreck: The Real Project X is ranked fourth. And The Old Guard rounds out the top five most popular English-language movies in the week dated July 7th to 13th.

Ranked sixth is the Mark Wahlberg sci-fi action film, Infinite. It has been clamouring on the Netflix chart for four weeks now, just like its successor, the Gerard Butler-Mike Colter co-led action thriller, Plane. Although the latter picks up with an emergency landing, Plane’s presence on the chart is far from an accidental touchdown.

Likewise, the Adam Sandler frenzy is growing louder day by day, and it makes sense since Happy Gilmore 2 is now closer than ever. Grown Ups already gained steam alongside its sequel in the US charts last week. And in the global list, Grown Ups 2 has kept it cool at eighth.

Simultaneously, new titles have quietly entered the list, including an animated one, Penguins of Madagascar: The Movie. The 1995 revisionist Western film, The Quick and the Dead, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, completes this week’s list.

By the looks of it, Netflix has truly become the one-stop streaming solution for everyone. From new animated titles that refuse to stay off the charts, cult comedies old and new, to action-thrillers with a sci-fi nod, Netflix has made its weekly list a watch party, and everyone is invited.
