The most popular movies chart on Netflix this week is, honestly, no surprise. Wonder why? Because when Netflix reunited Matt Damon and Ben Affleck for its latest action thriller, we expected nothing less.

So, in the week from January 19th to January 25th, The Rip has once again topped the charts with a whopping 40.4million views. As if that wasn’t enough, the punch-fest also remains the number one movie in 81 countries!

Up next, we have a chilling true-crime documentary, ranked second on the most popular movies chart, Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart. Directed by Benedict Sanderson, this Netflix docu-film, told by Elizabeth herself, has debuted on Netflix to 15.4million views this week, becoming the number one movie in three countries, including the UK, Ireland, and Iceland.

Moving on, there’s a James Bond film led by Daniel Craig making waves on the most popular movies chart on Netflix on third, the fifth and final film to star Craig as the fictional British MI6 agent, 007, No Time to Die. For those unaware, Netflix added the entire James Bond franchise to its US library halfway through January and clearly, the spy fever is paying off.

Following closely in fourth position is the rom-com that Netflix subscribers clearly cannot get over, People We Meet on Vacation. For its third week on the chart, the first Emily Henry adaptation for the screen amassed 9.3million views. Meanwhile, rounding out the top five candidates on the most popular chart this week is KPop Demon Hunters. The Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning film earned 7million views for its 32nd week on the chart.

While this week’s most popular movies chart surely has quite a few familiar faces, new players have also entered the chat, mostly in the second half of the list. On the sixth, we have the 2016 Western action movie starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt, The Magnificent Seven. As the top ten movie in 36 countries this week, the blast from the past garnered 6.5million views.

Although the frenzy surrounding action thrillers already peaked with the arrival of The Rip, the craze continues on the most popular movies chart with Spectre, another Craig-starrer from the James Bond franchise. The spy thriller is currently ranked seventh with 4.3million views.

Tied with Spectre on the chart with 4.3million views this week is a hard-hitting war drama adventure movie, Max. Meanwhile, Suitcase Killer: The Melanie McGuire Story, which is a retelling of a shocking true crime, is ranked ninth.

Lastly, wrapping up this week’s most popular movies chart on Netflix is yet another action thriller with a comedic twist, Freelance. And with that, we come to a close for the week.
