The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: January 2026

Those who thought the season of rom-com was already out of style, just so you know, the most popular movies chart on Netflix is once again wilding this week, and it’s all thanks to a new romantic comedy that has caught the eyes.

Starting right at the top, we have an Emily Henry adaptation making waves on the charts, People We Meet on Vacation. The Netflix romantic comedy amassed a whopping 17.2million views in its debut week, and it’s currently the number one movie in 33 countries, including the US, Canada, Portugal, Romania, and Greece, among others.

Succeeding the feel-good flick on the most popular movies chart on Netflix this week is Skye Borgman’s last true-crime documentary of 2025, Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story. In its second week, the docu-film earned 9.1million views as the top ten movie in 39 countries.

Curiously enough, yet another rom-com follows on the third, that too a classic, Me Before You, with 8.6million views. Unsurprisingly, it also remains the number one movie in 21 countries in the week dated January 5th to January 11th.

Just like the rom-com fever continues, so does the craze about KPop Demon Hunters. The animated musical fantasy film is currently ranked third on the most popular movies chart in its 30th week. With 7.6million views earned this week, it remains the top ten movie in 52 countries. Meanwhile, rounding out the top five titles is another animated movie, the fan-favourite survival comedy Madagascar, with 4million views.

Moving on, there’s Rian Johnson’s latest whodunit, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, at number six with 3.7million views. The murder mystery is a top-ten movie in 32 countries in its fifth week on the charts, sandwiched between Madagascar and another animated action-adventure comedy film succeeding it.

Following closely at number seven is Paw Patrol: The Movie with 3.6million views. But if you think that was close, you’d be delighted to know there has been some extreme competition on the most popular movies chart, mostly in the second half.

In addition to Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Paw Patrol: The Movie’s close call, Jurassic World and Sicario: Day of the Soldado are ranked eighth and ninth with 3.5million and 3.4million views, respectively.

Lastly, closing out the most popular movies chart for the week is, well, another animated flick, The Bad Guys. And with that, it’s a wrap for the week.
