The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: December 2025

From the looks of the most popular movies chart on Netflix this week, viewers are clearly caught up in a festive whirlwind, and considering it is December, they’d probably have it no other way.

Despite reigning the charts right at the top for two weeks straight since its Netflix premiere, Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery finally succumbed to the festive fervour, leaving the top spot to Dr Seuss’s The Grinch.

After amassing 16.5million views in the week from December 22nd to December 28th, the Christmas special movie has become the number one title in 32 countries. Following closely in second spot on the most popular movies chart globally is the third Knives Out film with 11.8million views.

For its third week on the chart, it’s a top ten title in a whopping 72 countries, which alone explains the momentum it holds within the Netflix periphery.

Speaking of unrelenting momentum, the third position on the global Netflix charts belongs to none other than Maggie Kang’s record-breaking 2025 entry, KPop Demon Hunters. The animated fantasy musical has generated 9.1million views for its 28th week on the chart, still holding its ground as the top ten title in 46 countries this week.

Moving on to number four, we have a Christmas classic climbing up the most popular movies chart across the globe: How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Succeeding the same is Netflix’s latest Christmas offering, Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June, with 7million views.

That said, the holiday rom-com fever also persists with My Secret Santa rising through the ranks at number six. In fact, the festive movie is succeeded by another Christmas title, The Christmas Chronicles. But that’s not all for the week.

At number eight, there’s a Jason Statham action thriller grabbing the eyes, Wrath of Man. Meanwhile, ranked ninth on the most popular movies chart is Tomb Raider.

Lastly, rounding out the cinematic trends for the week is yet another Christmas romantic comedy fans clearly cannot get over, Jingle Bell Heist. And with that, it’s a wrap for the week.
