Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery came, ate, and left no crumb for yet another week on the most popular movies chart on Netflix.

After amassing a whopping 20.9million views in the week dated December 15th to December 21st, Rian Johnson’s third Knives Out film, starring Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor, has become the number one movie once again. Moreover, Wake Up Dead Man is currently the number one movie in 32 countries.

Succeeding the gripping whodunit on the most popular movies chart on Netflix this week is a Christmas comedy movie based on How the Grinch Stole Christmas! By Dr Seuss, Dr Seuss’s The Grinch with 8.1million views.

Moving on, we have Maggie Kang’s record-breaking animated movie, which also happens to be the most-watched movie on Netflix – KPop Demon Hunters – currently ranked third with 7.9million views for its 27th week on the chart. While the flick’s presence on the chart is absolutely no surprise, now, we can officially call it the mainstay of Netflix’s cinematic trends.

Following closely with 7.5million views this week is The Croods: A New Age, which already sneaked into the charts last week. However, clearly, these aren’t the only movies on Netflix that have been holding their ground. Also joining the list is the fan-favourite holiday rom-com, My Secret Santa, with 7.4million views for its third week since its Netflix release.

At number six, there’s a true-crime documentary, Murder in Monaco, rising through the ranks. With 6.3million views earned, it remains a top ten title in a whopping 48 countries!

That said, the Christmas rom-com craze is also significantly reaching its heights on the most popular movies chart this week, as is evident from A Cowboy Christmas Romance’s fan-fare entry at number seven. Although the holiday hype surrounding romantic comedies is no surprise, the Jeremy Dremmond-directed movie’s rise up the charts definitely is.

Then again, the rom-com frenzy this week has nothing on the trend of animated family-friendly movies, as PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie and The Super Mario Bros Movie grab attention at number eight and ten, respectively.

Lastly, sandwiched between the two is another holiday title, The Christmas Chronicles, and with that, it’s officially a wrap for this festive week.
