The 10 most popular movies on Netflix this week: December 2025

As we inch closer to the holidays, the most popular movies chart on Netflix goes through a festive overhaul. While the trend was somewhat visible in the week prior as well, the trendsetters have completely undergone a shuffle.

In the week dated December 1st to December 7th, Netflix subscribers found their current favourite festive rom-com, My Secret Santa. This Michael Rohl-directed film is currently the number one movie in 23 countries, having amassed 18.1million views this week.

Clutching silver on the most popular movies chart globally this week is yet another holiday rom-com, Jingle Bell Heist. The film garnered 10.4million views this week, after topping the charts the week before.

While the Christmas romantic comedies might be busy swapping places every week, KPop Demon Hunters refuses to let go of its position. For this week as well, Maggie Kang’s animated musical is ranked third, as has been the case with the previous few weeks.

Having said that, the festive frenzy surrounding holiday rom-coms has officially reached a fever pitch, as is evident from Champagne Problems’ positioning on the most popular movies chart. The Minka Kelly-led movie is currently ranked fourth, and is also the top ten title in 38 countries.

Succeeding that, we have Noah Baumbach’s recently released comedy drama, Jay Kelly, sprinkling some movie magic at number five. Although with that, it’s a wrap for the top five titles on the most popular movies chart this week, this is far from the end of the cinematic trends that have viewers across the world glued to the Netflix screens.

On the sixth, it’s Alex Woo’s animated comedy, In Your Dreams, still maintaining its dreamy streak on the Netflix charts. Following it closely is another animated comedy, Rio. Meanwhile, for a change, fans have also been showing love to this 2020 family adventure movie, The Call of the Wild.

Like the rom-com sparks, the monster magic too lives on, thanks to Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, still ruling hearts and watchlists worldwide. After amassing 3.8million views this week, the Netflix adaptation is ranked ninth.

Lastly, rounding out the most popular movies chart across the globe is yet another family adventure movie, albeit animated, Ferdinand. And with that, we come to the end of this week’s cinematic champions on Netflix.
