The Netflix guest list is never short of names. But every week, a few of them are shown the door for the next batch to settle in. No velvet rope drama. No heckling.

Fortunately, this week, Netflix has one such movie that has stormed the charts in a way that’s purely written for the books: My Oxford Year. Despite debuting third on the ten most popular movies on Netflix last week, the rom-com currently sits atop.

For its second week on the charts, My Oxford Year has already become the number one movie in 73 countries. This week alone, it has amassed 27.2million views. That said, there are also guests on Netflix who refuse to lose their party charm regardless of the weeks. And that guest is KPop Demon Hunters.

Maggie Kang’s record-breaking animated film has spent eight consecutive weeks on the top ten most popular movies chart on Netflix. This week, too, it remains ranked number two. Meanwhile, Happy Gilmore 2 and My Oxford Year seem to have swapped their spots as the comedy sequel now sits ranked third on the chart, following its chart-topping performance for two weeks straight.

New players are also getting cosy on the weekly charts. The 2010 superhero comedy, Megamind, has sneaked inside the top ten most popular movies chart, currently positioned fourth. And Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II rounds out the top five movies, spending its second week on the charts.

The John Cena-led action comedy, Freelance, is still going strong at sixth. However, in the last few weeks, the family-friendly movie marathons have been on a roll as Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation extends its stay yet another week at number seven.

But this is not the only vacation charter on the Netflix charts this week. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island has also caved in, living up to the reputation of a golden blast from the past. It is presently ranked eighth on the list.

Surprisingly, fans are also loving a sports drama from quite some years past, Coach Carter. Lastly, Kandahar wraps up this week’s top ten most popular movies list, packing a punch as it goes.
