The 10 most popular films on Netflix this week: May 2023

Usually, when we bring you the top ten list of the most popular films on Netflix, there is an array of brand new movies to dive into. The streaming platform is famed for its diverse range of content, and those looking for a wide variety of new movies usually find a happy spot amid the reams of content the platform provides. However, this week, things are a little different.

This week the most popular chart has been entirely dominated by a host of classic movies which have found a new home on the streaming platform. Perhaps the most significant release was that of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which signified the whole franchise arriving on Netflix.

The new entry on our list garnered 5million hours of watching, and when you add the rest of the franchise’s numbers to the bill, The Boy Who Lived absolutely dominated the streaming platform this week. Expect to see more of the witches and wizards of Hogwarts on next week’s charts.

As well as Jennifer Lopez’s The Mother, which still sits at the top of the charts, Netflix also had another new entry up its sleeve with Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me — a documentary about the troubled 1990s icon — also finding a spot on the top ten list. Tom Hanks’ beautifully ordinary A Man Called Otto is also worth a watch this week.

However, there is also room on the list for two more classic titles including the animated feature The Croods, which is perfect for family viewing and Ted, which is a Mark Wahlberg movie about a teddy bear that is absolutely not suitable for children.

You can find the full list of titles below.
