July may have finally rolled into August, but Netflix released data on the most watched films on their platform for the last week. The usual suspects, aka the newest film releases on the platform, are there, but there are also a few surprise hits for the week of July 24th to July 30th, 2023.

Hidden Strike has emerged as the clear winner, securing the top spot with its action-packed storyline. Directed and written by Scott Waugh, the film stars Jackie Chan and John Cena in the lead. This pulse-pounding action film takes audiences on a covert military operation to prevent a global catastrophe, attracting a staggering 37.8million hours viewed in its first week.

The beloved animated characters Ladybug & Cat Noir are now delighting fans with a feature-length film, Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie. This adventure-packed animation garnered 20.8m watch hours as our favourite heroes battle supervillains to safeguard the city of Paris.

They Cloned Tyrone continues to intrigue audiences, maintaining its position in the top three for the second consecutive week. With 23m hours viewed, this genre-bending satire follows three friends as they uncover a government conspiracy involving human cloning and mind control.

For those seeking a touch of romance and comedy, Happiness for Beginners is the latest offering on the platform. Of course, if you would rather delve into the world of true crime, Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case might be more up your alley. The documentary delves into the real-life mystery, telling the gripping story of a father’s relentless search for his missing daughter. 

Continuing to make its mark in the top ten for four weeks straight, The Out-Laws seems to have vibed with viewers’ funny bones. Sci-fi enthusiasts found themselves engrossed in Unknown: Cosmic Time Machine; with 5.6 million hours viewed, this documentary leaves viewers pondering the wonders of the cosmos.
