Whether you were in the mood for action, drama, or comedy, Netflix had you covered the week of January 15th to January 21st, 2024, as always.
Topping the list at number one is Lift, the snoozefest of an action film starring Kevin Hart that has spent two weeks in the coveted top spot.
The Legend of Tarzan swings into second place, having held its ground for a solid week. With 14.4 million hours viewed, this modern take on the classic tale brings the iconic character back to life in an adventure starring Alexander Skarsgård, Samuel L. Jackson, and Margot Robbie.
In third place is The Kitchen, a dystopian drama directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya that has accumulated 10.2 million hours viewed in just one week. With its insightful take on the social housing crisis and indictment of oppressive occupation forces and police brutality, The Kitchen is one of Netflix’s best this year, even though it is only January.
Stillwater claims the fourth spot with 12.7million hours viewed. This crime drama tells the story of redemption and forgiveness as a father embarks on a journey to clear his daughter’s name as she is imprisoned for allegedly murdering her cheating ex.
Rounding out the top five is The Equalizer 3, a gripping action thriller that has maintained its popularity for three weeks. This film continues to deliver pulse-pounding excitement as Denzel Washington reprises his role as the enigmatic Robert McCall.
After spending a phenomenal nine weeks on the top ten films chart globally, the Adam Sandler and Bill Burr-voiced Leo is finally slipping down the list. The other animated hit on the list, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, is slipping as well, but for now, it’s on its eight-week winning streak.
Other notable films in this week’s lineup include the action horror film The Forever Purge, the crime comedy Queenpins, and the biographical adventure drama Wild. So, what have you been bingeing?
