From thrilling adventures to heartwarming comedies, Netflix continues to captivate audiences with its diverse array of films. The streaming giant’s top ten list for February 12th to 18th, 2024, is packed to the brim with new arrivals as well as old favourites.
Topping the charts this week is Players, a romantic comedy starring Gina Rodrigeuz and Damon Wayans Jr. With 28.5million hours viewed in just one week, this film is directed by Trish Sie. Coming in at number two is Lover, Stalker, Killer, a chilling documentary where “A mechanic tries online dating for the first time and meets a woman who takes romantic obsession to a deadly extreme.”
For those in need of a good laugh, all three parts of Despicable Me are still dominating the top ten charts globally. Despicable Me 3 takes the third spot on the list with 15.9million hours viewed. Despicable Me 2 has now spent a whopping 13 weeks on the list, and Despicable Me is on its sixth-week streak. These animated comedies continue to delight audiences of all ages.
Directed by Anthony Philipson, Einstein and the Bomb is the documentary everyone is flocking to fill in the gaps left in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Exploring the life and work of the iconic physicist, the documentary has secured the fourth position.
Rounding out the top five is Minions, the beloved animated spin-off featuring everyone’s favourite yellow henchmen. Also making waves this week is the delightful animated gem Orion and the Dark.
