While the top ten chart for the most popular series of the week is dominated by Wednesday and a whole range of different styles and genres of television, the same cannot be said for films. No, this week, the whole of Netflix’s audience has turned their attention towards the holiday season.
That’s not to say that all of the films on the list are geared towards the festivities, but nearly all of them have a warm glow that is hard to ignore. Top of the pile is the outstandingly brilliant Pinocchio from master director Guillermo del Toro, with nearly 40 million hours of viewing.
The trend continues with I Believe In Santa, a naturally gooey film about the spirit of Christmas, taking the second spot with 19 million hours of viewing. Jim Carrey’s landmark role as The Grinch is also on our list with nearly 8 million hours of viewing, while the new animation Scrooge also appears.
Rounding out the holiday content are entries from Lindsay Lohan, Falling for Christmas and The Noel Diary, which are enjoying their fifth and fourth weeks on the chart, respectively. But our most popular list isn’t entirely focused on the holiday season.
There are entries from Prisoners, a gritty film about, yep, you guessed it, prison life. There is Brad Pitt’s thrill-a-minute Bullet Train which would be our recommendation for the perfect Boxing Day viewing, and there is room for Emma Corin’s period drama Lady Chatterley’s Lover also on the list.
There are countless other classic Christmas movies to watch this week, but if you can only pick one, then Pinocchio has to be your choice. Find the full list below.
