Netflix release new teaser trailer for ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

Netflix have released a special teaser trailer for the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2. There is yet to be an official release date confirmed for the film.

On December 25th, the streaming giant Netflix decided to spoil Adam Sandler fans by releasing a special teaser trailer for their upcoming film, Happy Gilmore 2. As is usually the case with such trailers, there isn’t much information offered up, but it’s good to see some of our favourite characters return, and we are given quick glimpses into their time on screen within the trailer.

The teaser leaves plenty to the imagination; however, we do get to see Sandler’s Gilmore return in order to take part in a golf tournament. There are a few quick shots of famous faces who will be making cameos in the movie, including Travis Kelce and Bad Bunny. We also get to see short scenes featuring Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen. McDonald is confirmed to be reprising his role from the original 1996 film.

The original film is now considered by many to be a comedy classic. The titular character, Happy Gilmore, is a hockey player with terrible anger management issues who finds out that he’s good at golf. In light of this new discovery, Gilmore decides to enter a golf tournament in a bid to win some money and save his grandmother’s house. In doing so, he plays against a number of arrogant golfers who wind up becoming enemies.

Margaret Qualley has also been confirmed to star in the Happy Gilmore sequel. She revealed that she managed to land the role because of her husband, Jack Antonoff, who lied to Sandler and told him she was a good golfer. “What a good husband,” said Qualley when discussing her appointment in the role, “And I can’t gold. He lied for the sake of the family… I never golfed a day in my life. I’m terrible, actually.”

Qualley has spoken very positively about the film, saying it is, “The best thing that’s ever happened to me.” She continued, “I’m essentially deep background, but I can die happy now.”

Also confirmed to have an “insane” cameo in the movie is hip-hop icon Eminem. Sandler spoke about getting the rapper involved in the film, saying, “Eminem was cool. He came by, he was great,” he said, “I’ve known Eminem for a long time, he’s a great guy and he came in and was funny as hell.”

There has been no official release date confirmed for Happy Gilmore 2 yet; however, it is expected to land on Netflix in 2025.
