‘Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85’ is going to theatres before the Netflix premiere
Most Stranger Things geeks made peace with the hit Netflix series coming to an official end in the hopes that its new animated series, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, set in the sci-fi universe, would put a band-aid on the excruciating heartbreak. Turns out, they weren’t really wrong.
While the anticipation surrounding Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 has officially hit the roof, fans now have to buckle up for an update they never expected to be on their 2026 bingo cards.
According to Netflix, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is getting its ducks in a row for a limited theatrical early screening of the first two episodes of the upcoming animated series from showrunner Eric Robles, executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, ahead of its global streaming debut on Netflix.
Select screenings have been confirmed for April 18th at 12.00 and 15.00 local time in 34 theatres across the United States. Showings will also be held at the Paris Theatre in New York and the Netflix House Philadelphia. Those planning to attend the screenings will receive exclusive collectables while supplies last.

For those uninitiated, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 spotlights the Hawkins gang, comprising Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max in the winter of 1985. With the nightmares of the Upside Down slowly fading out, the kids are finally coming to terms with the normalcy of Dungeons & Dragons and snowball fights.
Yet, something horrifying is brewing beneath the snow-blanketed small town, and the Hawkins gang must get to the roots of this mystifying force to save the town before it’s too late.
The main Hawkins squad is voiced by Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Luca Diaz, Benjamin Plessala, Braxton Quinney, Elisha “EJ” Williams, and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport. Additional voice cast includes Brett Gipson as Hopper, Odessa A’zion as newcomer Nikki Baxter, Jeremy Jordan as Steve, and Janeane Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips in unrevealed roles.
When Stranger Things touched down in theatres with its series finale for the first time, hell broke loose. So, expect nothing less when Tales from ’85 follows in the footsteps.
Robles executive produces Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 via Flying Bark Productions alongside the Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy under his 21 Laps banner, and Dan Cohen. The animated series premieres globally on Netflix on April 23rd. Mark your calendars now!
