‘Stranger Things’ season 5, volume 2, episode runtimes have been revealed
In less than a day, Stranger Things season five will return on Netflix with the highly anticipated second volume, just in time for Christmas.
But if you’re still waiting on Santa, we hate to break it to you: Vecna is the harbinger of holiday surprises and the Upside Down fireworks this year.
While the anticipation for the next round of batches has hit the roof, if it’s any consolation, Ross Duffer has finally unveiled the episode runtimes of the second volume right ahead of its release on Monday, December 22nd. The Stranger Things co-creator most recently took to Instagram to share the details, and here’s what your Christmas watchlist now looks like.
The second volume comprises three episodes, running for approximately three and a half hours in total. All the episodes have a runtime longer than an hour. So, it’s best not to rush with either.
The fifth episode, ‘Shock Jock,’ runs for an hour and eight minutes, the sixth episode, ‘Escape from Camazotz,’ runs for an hour and 15 minutes, and lastly, the seventh episode, ‘The Bridge,’ clocks in at an hour and six minutes. But that’s not all that the co-showrunner teased.
Alongside the runtime revelation, Duffer’s social media announcement came with an updated runtime for the series finale. Earlier, ‘The Rightside Up’ was supposed to complete its lap in two hours and five minutes. However, the update runtime now clocks in at two hours and eight minutes. Hence, you’d better buckle up while there’s still time.
Ross Duffer also shared the details of the second volume’s episodes on Instagram, confirming that ‘Shock Jock’ picks up right after the events of volume one’s finale, ‘Sorcerer.’ In fact, writer Frank Darabont has conceived an episode “far darker and far scarier” than his last Stranger Things episode, ‘Turnbow Trap.’
Meanwhile, ‘Escape from Camazotz’ will have Shawn Levy returning as director. “It’s the biggest episode of the three – and the performances make us cry every time we watch it,” Duffer wrote on his Instagram post dated December 12th.
Lastly, coming to ‘The Bridge,’ which the Duffer brothers co-directed with the Deadpool & Wolverine director, although the co-creator didn’t want to divulge a lot, they confirmed, “aside from the finale, it’s probably the most emotional chapter of the season. It’s gonna be a long six-day wait for the finale.” Indeed, we have every reason to believe so as well.
